Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a very influential man during his time. He organized many protests and sit-ins, stood up for the rights of himself and others, and eventually made a lasting impact on all lives. He was born on January 15, 1929, to a middle-class family in Atlanta, Georgia, as the middle child. In May of 1936, he was baptized at his church, where he later became a minister. Martin attended his local high school, where he skipped both ninth and eleventh grades. Later in life, he earned a sociology degree from Morehouse College. After attending college, he went on to graduate school in Pennsylvania, where he became valedictorian and class president. During Martin’s schooling, he met Coretta Scott, a musician.
