Jackie Robinson was a very humble man, he was born on January 31, 1919 in Cairo Georgia. He was a good baseball player, but was black and blacks were not able to play in the major leagues. But then he was drafted by the Dodgers. He was a very good baseball player, but People were still very mean to him and shouted harsh comments at him. He fought threw it and is known today one of the best ball players ever. Martin Luther King Jr. was born in 1929 to a middle class family in Atlanta Georgia. When he was a kid segregation was around so it was tough for him because he was black. When he grew up he was a minister Baptist and a social activist. He won the noble peace prize in 1964. A duty officer requested this and then later he requested that Jackie should be court martialed. Since this happened Jackie was not allowed to be deployed overseas to the World War II. He never saw combat during the war. Jackie left the Army with an honorable discharge.

To the average person, in the average American community, Jackie Robinson was just what the sports pages said he was, no more, no less. He was the first Negro to play baseball in the major leagues. Everybody knew that, but to see the real Jackie Robinson, you must de-emphasize him as a ball player and emphasize him as a civil rights leader. That part drops out, that which people forget.
