Mars Slide 1, Title Page: I am doing my Science Project on the planet Mars.
Slide 2, Surface:
Mars Surface is rocky, with canyons, volcanoes, dry lake beds, and it also has craters all over it. Mars also is mostly covered with dust that looks kinda like red dust that floats all the way around, on the edge. It also has winds and clouds and other things just like Earth.
Slide 3, Temperature:
During the winter Mars can get as low as -195 degrees fahrenheit { -125 degrees celsius}. On a summer day Mars can get as high as 70 degrees fahrenheit {20 degrees celsius}. At night Mars can get to about -100 degrees fahrenheit { -73 degrees celsius }.

of about -9° C (about 16° F) and an average July temperature of about 22° C
“The needs of the one outweigh the needs of the many” -Captain Kirk, Star Trek. In this weeks reading of The Martian, this idea is communicated in the story that saving one person is more important than saving many people.
Based on both Mars and Earth having had very similar geology, I feel that these two planets did in fact mirror each other as defined earlier. They both share having had a magnetic field, a thick rich life supporting atmosphere, volcanoes, plate tectonics, liquid water and share similar interiors. The planets orbits are within the habitable zone and also conditions post Mars forming would have allowed it to have been an early Earth. Rovers discovered plenty of salts on Mars. Bright soil contains salts, including iron-bearing sulfates and light-colored soil mainly composed of silica are possibly originated from water. Deposits of closely pure silica in Gusev Crater may have developed when volcanic steam or hot water leached through the ground. These deposits found around hydrothermal vents are important for past habitability’s studies of Mars as Earth’s hydrothermal environments support microbial ecosystems.
Tracy K. Smith’s “Life on Mars” is a collection of poetry dealing mainly in the search for a sense of purpose and the nature of people. The books is something of an elegy as a whole with many poems pertaining to death and the author’s struggle with the loss of her father. The poems are at once poignant and gentle in tone and leave questions than can only be answered in multiple readings. The book is segmented in four parts that travel through different topics and types of poetry. The mood ranges from passionate accounts of Orwellian politics to soft recollections of a lovers embrace; throughout the book Smith brings in references to pop culture, science, and technology that incorporate seamlessly with her words.

Scientists continue on the journey to Mars as NASA plans to send people deeper into space than ever before. Therefore, they would like to send people to Mars and the surface of asteroids. Before that is accomplished, NASA will analyze an asteroid to learn about the risks that may pose to future humans. The most powerful rocket yet, is scheduled to launch in 2018. Information from this rocket will enhance NASA’s understanding of asteroids.
Mars, a planet we know little of just until Curiosity came along,Curiosity is a rover that got sent to Mars and had to find the geology about Mars and if there is water and the climate.This importaint information gave us great ideas from when this rover was launched and this rover was launched on November 6, 2011 and since that we’ve got more information that there is a chance for water to be on Mars.NASA has had that information since when it landed August 6, 2012 and that information gave us great ideas because the information and trip was a succes.The spinoff of what Curiosity used was a rocket powered sky crane that it used to land on Mars and is also used on Earth by landing planes in testing for this rover to have a good landing on Mars . This rover gave us uses on Earth and info on Earth about Mars as we go through more and more days but NASA is sending more missions to different places, get different goals,and have different spinoffs that we use.
There are many similarities and differences between Saturn and Mars.We can use a difference to start with. The gravitational force on both planets is very different. To compare the forces, I will use the gravitational force on Earth as the example, since both of the factors are compared to Earth. Mars has a gravitational force that is .38 of Earth’s so If you were 100 pounds on Earth you would be 38 pounds on Mars, but on Saturn you would be 106.4 because it is 1.064… times Earth’s gravitational force, the difference lies in the numbers since the difference is very large. Another example of a difference between the two planets is the geological features. Though Saturn does have mountains, they are found in the inner core while Mars possesses
Venus and Mars' atmospheres have both been found to have traces of nitrogen. Though the nitrogen in each of the atmospheres varies from 2.7% to 3.5% the substance is nonetheless present. The theories of how nitrogen enters the atmosphere differ for the two planets. The generation of nitrogen on Mars is believed to be caused by outgassing from the planets local volcanoes. While the generation of nitrogen on Venus is believed to be from the lack of a magnetic field around the planet’s atmosphere.

Mars is the next closest planet to the sun after Mercury, Venus, and Earth. It is believed that at one point, Mars may have been very Earth like. Great floods changed the surface and left similar features that we see on earth today, massive ancient flood plains and valleys cover the face of Mars. But now, the atmosphere of Mars is too thin, and too cold for water to last on the surface. What water there once was has receded to the ice caps at the north and South Pole. But the amount of ice is nowhere near to what it should be if all the water on the planet froze. Maybe the water all evaporated into the atmosphere, leaving behind the dry rocky surface we see now. But then why is the atmosphere of Mars so thin? Perhaps all the water soaked into the ground and remains disperses in the soil deep underground.

However, the Egyptians named it "the red one" and the Chinese named it "the fire star". Mars was first discovered in approximately 400BC by the Babylonians, and they named it "the star of death". Back in that time, Mars was visible by the eye, simply seen as a red "dot" in the sky, and some thought it was possibly a moving star. Mars has a very interesting geology that can tell anyone a lot about the planet. The red planet has a variety of surface features that give much information about its history. The idea of space colonization has been found in books and movies for many years, but these fantasies will soon become a reality. One day, Earth will become uninhabitable due to a collision with a large comet or asteroid or from the inevitable explosion of the sun. In the case of such an event, human displacements will need to take place and the most probable destination will be somewhere in space. Mars One is a Dutch nonprofit organization founded in 2011 by Bas Lansdorp and Arno Wielders, and this organization has initiated a project with the idea of future human displacement in mind. The nonprofit intends to initiate space colonization by establishing the first permanent human settlement on Mars by the year 2024. The idea of a one-way trip to Mars may seem ridiculous and set for failure, but people like Dr. Gerard ‘t Hooft, supporter of the project, are optimistic. ‘t Hooft says, “This project seems...to be the only way to fulfill dreams of mankind’s expansion into space.” Through this mission, Mars One expects to gain a greater understanding of the solar system and set the precedent for future space settlements. And with less than ten years before the colonization begins, preparations have begun to take place with a clear plan in place.
