The Life of Marela Zacarias If I were to ask you what is art, and how can one find it? What would you say? Well if it were me being asked those question, I would simply say that art to me is a form of a picture; a visual painting or model of some design and it could be found all among us. You may define it differently only because art could be defined in many ways. I could simply say that art to me is a form of a picture; a visual painting or model of some design. Well according to an article written by Shelley Esaak, an art history expert she mentioned that art has a way of stimulating different parts of our brains to make us laugh or incite us to riot, with a whole gamut of emotions in between. Her sculptural part of the work requires a lot of layers to be as strong and light. It takes about a month to finish the sculptural part of the works- before I can start painting on them. Most time Zararius works on many several projects at the same time. Due to the way she folds and forms her sculptures, she can only give one coat a day to each piece, no matter the size, so therefore its better and faster if she were to just work on all of them in the same day. Now it seems like to me that Zacarias has a lot of patience. While doing my research on Marela Zacarias, my eyes have opened up more when it comes to art. I’ve come to like sculptures more than I do portraits. I like that you can actually feel the outlining and curves of a sculpture than you would a flat surface portrait. The thing I love most about Zacarias’s sculptures, is that it’s so unique and comes at you with beautiful colors and patterns. It also seems as if it were a linen drapes coming at you or a linen bed cover drying outside and the wind is blowing it, causing it to get that rippled effect. Art can be many things in one’s eyes.
