Seeing a magazine or even an advertisement on television with photo shopping a model and putting makeup on allows young girls to see perfect women. Appearances are something that follows a women her entire life something she must keep up with. Women are seen socially as a beacon of not only hope but as an ideal standard. Makeup as well as Photoshop seems to be an ideal way to show an appearance. In magazines and on television, even walking down the street there is makeup or Photoshop, and yet societies continue to set such high standards for young women it can be impossible at times to keep up with the rigorous demands. Young girls take makeup as a way to fit in, and sometimes jealousy plays apart like "They were said to be envious of her good looks"(Bullied to Death for Being Pretty). How girls are looked upon can sometimes give off a sense of shame or envy. The world brings upon a way of life, a way of living to societies needs in a way where a thirteen year old is putting makeup on her face. When a young girl sees “The same society that sells products to promote natural hair, looks and smooth complexion with the model on the box, half photo shopped, and has fake lashes and hair extensions” ( I Will Not Let Exam Results Decide My Fate). Appoints the idea to these girls that what they see is what they have to be to fit in. Technology plays a major role in this uproar in social standards. Magazines are the biggest factor at out of all, even when “Overall magazine circulation was down 1.5% in the latest audited period, according to PEJ’s analysis of data from the Audit Bureau of Circulations”(State of the Media). Magazines are everywhere, even when the amount of them bought has dropped.
