In this class, I learned how to use the MLA format correctly in my essays, and how to use tone in my essays to persuade my audience. This class taught me how to comprehend speeches by politicians and to know what they are talking about when they say certain things. I got to read persuasive essays to learn the different ways they can persuade me and what approaches the author took by nothing that. Another thing I learned in this class was how to identify and use logos, pathos, and ethos in essays. The first unit of this chapter, we learned about logos, pathos, and ethos. Logos are when the author uses logic in reasoning in their essay. It is just the same as using definitions and quotations. Ethos is when the author uses character and …show more content…

Times New Roman and 12-inch font are used in all the essays. All sources must be cited too. Titles of the articles must be italicized; the publication of the articles must be cited too, along with the date the source was accessed. If no date, then n.d. would be used instead. A correct work citation also will include the author’s full name with the last name first, and finally, if the citation is long and goes for two lines, the second line has to be indented a half inch from the first line. Critical thinking is another very important tool in reading and writing. In this class, it was used for both, but especially for writing the essays. Critical thinking was used for explaining the evidence and providing support to what is being argued. Critical thinking is also used by sharing the knowledge that the author knows to establish credibility. Critical thinking also helped me plan out what I wanted to say in my essay.
In conclusion, I learned a lot of important tips on how to write a persuasive essay and how to understand what politicians are saying in their speeches too. Also how to correctly format a paper using the MLA format and to make sure a website is very credible too. By taking this course, I learned how to persuade my audience into believing what I want them to believe. Using Logos, Pathos, and Ethos I learned how to include emotion, ethics, and logic in my essays. This brought my persuasive skills to another
