Cancer is extremely dangerous and occurs in 1 of every 3 people in their lives. Lung Cancer is the most dangerous type and is the leading death of cancers in the U.S. The leading ways to treat cancer is chemotherapy, radiation, and or surgery. Many people come to the conclusion, that the only way to acquire lung cancer is by smoking and being exposed to second hand smoke but this is not the case. Anyone can get lung cancer even from not smoking at all. There are two types of lung cancers including small cell lung cancer and non-small lung cancer. Small cell lung cancer occurs almost always in non-smokers only. Non-small often is affected to smokers and is the more popular of the two.
There are many symptoms of lung cancer, including
However, other forms of treatment may also depend much on the type of lung cancer that is being treated and it's staging. Be it the more rapid growing Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC) that makes up for between 10% - 15% of all diagnosed cases, or the more common and slower growing Non Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC).
Diagnosed with lung cancer, now what!? Time to do some research. Lung cancer is the number one cause of deaths in males and females. The causes, diagnosis, and treatment of lung cancer have advanced recently with new technology available to scientists and the medical profession. Lung cancer develops when the cells grow abnormally and tumors form instead of healthy lung tissue. It can take place in one or both lungs, normally the cells that line the air passages. Not all tumors are cancerous, the ones that do not spread are benign tumors. The more tumors that develop in the lungs will cause the lungs to work less efficiently. The metastatic tumors spread to other parts of the body passing through the blood stream or lymphatic system.
Lung cancer is one of the most common types of cancers in the world. There are three main types of lung cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, small cell lung cancer, and lung carcinoid tumor. Just like any other cancer, lung cancer is dangerous, and a life threatening problem. Many studies and researches have been presented to find a cure, but an exact cure has yet to be found. There are however multiple causes, ways to diagnose, and treatments for lung cancer.
Over 140,000 Americans die each year from lung cancer. One of the biggest causes of Lung cancer is smoking there is more than 50 different chemicals that can cause cancer in a cigarette. Second Hand smoking can also cause lung cancer if you’re exposed to secondhand smoke. The body system that lung cancer affects is the respiratory system. In all types of cancer some of the body cells begin to divide without stopping and can spread into surrounding tissue which can is the structure and function. But then the respiratory system starts to malfunction and cause problems in the body.
Non-small-cell lung cancer is more common than small-cell lung cancer. It makes up about 80 percent of all diagnosed lung cancers. It is actually four different kinds of lung cancers that grow and respond to treatment in about the same way. These four types of non-small-cell lung cancer are termed squamous cell, adencarcinoma, large cell, and mixed cell. Two other related cancers that are also included in the non-small-cell lung cancers group are carcinoid and mesothelioma. Non-small-cell lung cancer grows more slowly than small-cell lung cancer. Non-small-cell lung cancer tends to grow first in the area where it started then invades the surrounding lung tissue and ribs. It eventually spreads to other areas of the body, mainly bones, brain, and liver.
The leading cause of death in America is lung cancer. Lung cancer is ranked top 10 fatal cancers in the United States. There are many types of ways to get lung cancer. There is radon gas it occurs outdoors naturally. Then there is second hand smoke that comes from other people smoking. People are even getting lung cancer from cancer causing agents, this happens from carcinogens. You can also get it from air pollution indoors and outdoors. Also there are gene-mutations that form cancer causing cells. Then there is the one everyone blamed lung cancer is smoking.
Cancer can affect anywhere from the brain, lungs, and liver, to the breasts and heart. One of the most common types of cancer is “Carcinoma” “Cancer that begins in the skin or in tissues that line or cover internal organs -- "skin, lung, colon, pancreatic, ovarian cancers," (Medicine net)”. This shows that dozens of different types of cancer only fall into a small category and can all only be treated by certain means. Some types of cancers are even incurable making them particularly dangerous because once you get one of those types of cancers there is nothing that you can do except wait for the inevitable death that awaits you. Meanwhile other forms of cancers are minor, meaning that there is therapy and cures for them, however just because they are minor compared to the more deadly types of cancer, all forms of cancer are extremely potent and dangerous. Sarcoma is another form of cancer “that begins in bone, cartilage, fat, muscle, blood vessels, or other connective or supportive tissue -- bone, soft tissue cancers, (Medicine Net)”. This form of cancer affects the body by taking out the supportive tissues and functions, causing extreme pain and discomfort for whom ever is unlucky enough to get it. One of the most common types of cancer is leukemia which “Cancer that starts in blood-forming tissue such as the bone marrow and
Cancer is a type of disease that has many variations. it is an extremely broad disease, consisting of over 200 different types. It affects millions of people around the world each year. The disease occurs because of an irregular cell growth in the body. The cells uncontrollably divide and grow through the process of mitosis. This creates either benign, or malignant tumors. Benign tumors are not dangerous, but malignant tumors are dangerous and are given the term ‘cancerous’. The malignant tumors can invade other parts of the body by traveling through either the bloodstream, or the lymphatic system. It is a very dangerous disease, it is not contagious, and it can be cured if it is diagnosed and treated early. Many cancers have a different mortality rate, but not all of the different types of cancers have a high mortality rate.
Lung cancer is the number one cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. It occurs when a malignant tumor develops within the lungs causing cell mutations. There are two main types of lung cancer: non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer. Non-small cell lung cancer is the most common type of lung cancer. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), non-small cell lung cancer accounts for 85 percent of lung cancers whereas small cell lung cancer accounts for 10-15 percent. Non-small cell lung cancer can be categorized into three different types: adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and large cell carcinoma. Adenocarcinoma is the most common subtype of non-small cell lung cancer. It accounts for 30 - 35 percent of primary lung tumors. Squamous cell carcinoma occurs when abnormal lung cells multiply out of control resulting in the formation of a tumor (Harvard Health Publications). Squamous cell carcinoma is the second-most common type of non-small cell lung cancer. It
Lung cancer is the second most common cancer in both men and women, but is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States.
Lung cancer and smoking often, have some correlation, but it's not always the case. As lung cancer stages progress, lung cancer symptoms include coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and bloody phlegm. Treatment comprises of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Lung cancer has typically no signs in its initial stages. When symptoms of the disease start to resemble, they can introduce hacking, raspy coughing, sometimes with mucus that has blood in it. There are also recurring respiratory infections like bronchitis or pneumonia. Finally, chronic shortness of breath, wheezing, persistent chest pain and inflammation in the neck and face. These problems frequently happen because of blocked breathing ways or because the cancer has reached farther
There are three that are frequently not treatable. Lung and bronchial is life-threatening cancer. One of the main causes is tobacco usage. Being near people who smoke is risky because for the non-smoker, this person will still inhale second-hand smoke which can lead to lung or bronchial cancer.
The type of cancer I decided to research was lung cancer because it was something that was interesting to me. It interests me because I know a lot of people that have smoked and have gotten this type of cancer. A few of the leading causes to lung cancer is smoking and environmental toxins. The types of smoking products that are used that can cause this type of cancer are ones you buy from the store or illegal drugs. There are different types of environmental toxins. If these types are ingested the result could be cancerous. These toxins include and not limited to; asbestos which is a type of insulation used in houses, carcinogens; toxins in cigarette smoke, and benzene; a toxin that is a natural part of crude oil and gasoline, etc.
Cancer starts with a mutation of a cell that causes a change in the growth and division; this shows that even the smallest thing can be fatal ("What Is Cancer?"). Cancer is a possibly fatal disease that can affect people both physically and emotionally. And every year it takes the lives of millions of people. The amount of people with cancer is growing ("Cancer Facts and Statistics"). According to Jacque Wilson “The increasing cancer patients are outnumbering the number of physicians in addition financial problems will result in trouble with cancer care in the United States” (“Report: Cancer will be No. 1 killer in U.S.”). “By 2030, the global burden is expected to grow to 21.4 million new cancer cases and 13.2 million cancer deaths simply due to the growth and aging of the population, as wel...
In the US smoking is linked to about 80 to 90% of lung cancers. Smoking cigars and pipes also cause lung cancer. Tobacco smoke is a mix of over 7,000 chemicals. Smoking cigarettes is the number one risk of lung cancer, smoking can affect your entire body. Nearly 10% of lifelong smokers will not get lung cancer.
