Lung Cancer

Over 140,000 Americans die each year from lung cancer. One of the biggest causes of Lung cancer is smoking there is more than 50 different chemicals that can cause cancer in a cigarette. Second Hand smoking can also cause lung cancer if you’re exposed to secondhand smoke. The body system that lung cancer affects is the respiratory system. In all types of cancer some of the body cells begin to divide without stopping and can spread into surrounding tissue which can is the structure and function. But then the respiratory system starts to malfunction and cause problems in the body.

Lung cancer cells affects the respiratory system in many ways. The respiratory system moves oxygen from carbon dioxide and water from the body. It also moves through the nose, pharynx (far-rings), trachea, and bronchi (bron-key). The pharynx allows air to enter through the throat. It’s is the only part of the respiratory system that is shared with another system. The trachea allows air to move into the trachea or windpipes. According to …show more content…

Cancer starts almost anywhere in the human body, which is made up of trillions of cells. Cancer cells develops then the process breaks down. As the cells become more and more abnormal; old or damaged cells survive when they should die and new cells form when they are not needed. The new cells then divide without stopping and may form growths called tumors. Cancerous tumors are malignant means they can spread into or invade nearby tissues. When the tumors grow, cancer cells break off and travel through distant places of the body.
