The Webster Dictionary describes the meaning of love as strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties. It can be an attraction based on sexual desire or affection based on admiration, benevolence, and common interests. While the antonym of love is hatred, if one was to look up the synonyms for the word love, they would find words like fondness, tenderness, and deep affection. Love was used approximately 85 A.D. with the same meaning as todays modern day society.

Love can split into two words, lo and ve, as in lo and behold. Which means to attract attention or show surprise. Ve isn’t in the dictionary. However, in Spanish lo and ve used in a sentence means ‘to see.’

Love seems to be the main underlying goal that we all strive for in our lifetime. It is the one thing that we all, as humans have in common. There are many different types of love like the dictionary states. Kinship love or other wise known as family love, benevolence or admiration also known as friendship love, conceptual love, and sexual desire or affection also known as intimate love.
