The purpose of my statement is to discuss a tragedy that occurred in 1912 of the sinking of the infamous Titanic. 
 What are the three main points you are going to look at in your speech?
-Description of the Titanic (who made it, the structure, etc.)
-The crashing of the Titanic into the iceberg and why the ship sank
 How do these points relate to you and then to us? Why is it important to you and why should the audience care?

My attention getter would be how an American writer by the name of Morgan Robertson wrote a book entitled, “The Wreck of the Titan.” Written 14 years before the sinking of the Titanic, Morgan’s novel seems to have foreshadowed the sinking of the titanic which is ironic and intriguing. 
 Who are you giving credit to/citing credentials for the speech? Where are you getting your sources from?

 State your review of main ideas for your conclusion.
My conclusion of my speech would be to inform my audience that the crash of the Titanic, although seemed to have been predicted fourteen years before it actually sank, may have been an irony but it is still an event that in conclusion was tremendous and something that will never be forgotten for it is still a mystery that is to be solved.
