There are many similarities between my community and the community within the book as well as many differences. As the hunter of our group, I was in charge of retrieving items and food in order for everyone on the island to survive. Everyone in my community had a role which means that, the actions taken would affect everybody. Our sole intention was to gain as many signatures in order to survive or thrive on the island. There are a lot of factors that go into achieving this goal such as ensuring teamwork between the islanders, providing fairness to everyone, and limiting conflicts. Ensuring all the islanders work together is essential for their survival. This is because if teamwork is incorporated on the island, then people will be able to get along more as a result of more food, better shelter, and survival. “Who knows we’re here? Eh? “I got the conch,” said Piggy, in a hurt voice, “I got the right to speak.” In this case, you need the conch in order to talk, which shows that everyone is awarded with the right to talk if you have the conch. Hence, they were able to view different people's perspectives and use it to their advantage. This relates to our own community because we were able divide up work that benefited us in order for everyone to contribute equally.
