Once upon a time, there lived a beast. This beast was ostracized by his friends, family, and society in general. All this beast wanted was to be loved to be a part of a group. What he really wanted was for people to recognize him as a member of society. His grief and depression turned to anger and rage. Since no one could treat this beast with the respect that he deserved he haunted the people of the city. He made them scared to walk the streets, he made them scared to sleep with the lights off, and he made them scared of life altogether. As he hallucinates he sees the lord of the flies. Which comes into play in the end of chapter 8. The evolution of the beast in this stage is when the lord of the flies says ““You knew, didn’t you? I’m part of you?””(143) Lord of the flies is telling Simon about the true beast. As previously mentioned in this part of the passage Simon is hallucinating in his secret place. When he does he sees the Lord of the flies which is the sow’s head that Jack put on a sharpened stick surrounded by flies which means their corruption. In Simon’s conversation with the Lord of the Flies, he learns the truth about the beast. First Simon’s learns that the beast cannot be hunted or killed. Next was that the reason no one could find the beast was because the beast is a part of everyone on the island. This realization means there was nothing that made the kids do bad and evil things that the reason for that is they were just uncovering the real beast inside all of them.
