Loneliness What is there to loneliness? Not everybody in this story is lonely but there is many different forms of it. When people lose someone or don't have friends to depend on or talk to it gets hard. There are two characters in this excerpt from the novel Kokoro by Natsume Soseki, that provide a definite point view of each character that leads to the expression of the theme loneliness, . The narrator acts as though he is lonely because situations arise. One is when he went to Kamakura to visit a friend. He had enough money to go and when he did, his friend ended up receiving a letter from his family saying his mother was ill. So he decided to end up going back, and he was all left alone. After following the man he got to know him, and started calling him Sensei. The boy told Sensei he has met him before but the man does not remember him. The narrator started to think less of Sensei. A month after lectures started and he became more relaxed but at the same time uncomfortable. Here's a quote from the narrator "I began to walk about the streets discontentedly, and to look around my room with a feeling that something was lacking my life." (Natsume Soseki) The second character is Sensei, he shows loneliness in different ways. After months went by the narrator started to miss the old man.
