The sun was out, the wind blowing, and children playing outside - what a beautiful day. Nati and Molly, a happily married couple, are holding hands, taking a stroll through the park. Suddenly, they hear shouting coming from the other side of the park. What was the shouting about? The shouting was about the couple - who were both women - and the man that was shouting from the other side of the park wasn’t too happy with that. When someone displays their hatred or loathing towards LGBT+ people, it can cause some major problems for the victim. How has the LGBT+ community struggled and how can we help? Although some teachers are okay with calling students by their preferred name and pronouns, schools are hesitating letting students using the bathrooms or lockers that correspond to their gender identity. The Stafford County school board decided that an elementary student would either have to use a staff bathroom, a single-stall bathroom, or a bathroom that matches the student’s biological sex. Kentucky lawmakers proposed a bill that would prevent transgender students from using the bathroom of the opposite sex.
