Think about all the homework you get every night or when you used to go to school. Always having tons of homework and only having one night to finish hours worth of homework. While still trying to have time for after school activities. Isn't that one of the most stressful things you have to deal with when you were in school? Many people often say that students, teachers, and parents, think homework should be banned, but multiple people disagree. This heated topic has been debated for many years. Some parents and teachers think students have too much. However, some believe their students receive too little. Few schools already have banned homework, but the majority of schools don’t. Some people agree with having ten minutes multiplied by the grade level of the student. In ‘’Down with Homework’’ with Alfie Kohn. Kohn believes that homework is a bother to kids. He believes that kids’ lives’ will be easier and less stressful if they didn’t have homework. Homework puts a lot of stress on a kid and the teachers have to remember that these kids are little and that every family is different. Assignee too much homework could result in kid not doing the homework or giving up on school. I agree with Kohn because I’ve been there and I’m observing the same problem with my sisters. This portrays today’s mindset that many students have and learning is viewed as a hardship one must overcome; the enjoyment of learning is absent in today’s curriculum. When you think about school one of the first things that pops into people’s mind is homework. Basically if you have asked your parents or your grandparents they would say that they remember the homework load. Now we all know that homework can be beneficial but also can be very unhealthy with all of the stress that it causes. Over the years the homework load has increased because of the fact that schools think that they need to try to keep up with other countries in academics. And will doing all of this homework now be all for nothing later? The homework load has increased these past couple of years and it is causing a lot of stress on kids and overall is not helping their academics in the long run.

Imagine getting home around somewhere later than 9:00 p.m. because you had to go somewhere or do something and still have to do a whole page of some kind of class homework. It would cause some students to stay up until around 11:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. just because of homework. Students would be struggling the next morning getting up or even falling asleep during a class. There's not much left for free time. Equally important is after school activities. Add two hours to the day ruins the whole schedule plan for kids to get to their designated place. Adding the stress of school then their activity and then knowing you have homework is too much on our shoulders.

Homework is for suckers. Homework causes stress for students as well as for parents. Homework is extremely demanding and many students are spending far too many hours after school to complete their homework assignments. Although, some students may be able to whiz right through their homework, other students crawl along struggling at a snail’s pace. Consequently, family time is put on the back burner due to the time constraints of homework. Additionally, any extracurricular activities are also put on hold.
