Life of pi philosophy
Who is God?
In the movie life of pi , it allows the viewer to choose, almost as a matter of personal preference, whether or not to have faith in any deity. But the deeper, driving message of the film is that God is an actual, living presence in the form of nature. So god is all powerful and is reviled trough what ever religion you want it to be revealed through.

What is truth?
Truth is not highlighted as a major theme in Life of Pi until the last part of the novel, when Pi retells the entire adventure to make it more believable to the officials who are questioning him. He then asks the officials which story they prefer, since neither can be proven and neither affects the information they are searching for on how the ship sunk. This question implies that truth is not absolute; the officials can choose to believe whichever story they deem true, and that version becomes truth. Pi argues to the Japanese officials that there is invention in all “truths” and “facts,” because everyone is observing everything from their own perspective. As a boy growing up in southern India, Pi Patel is drawn to religions of every variety. He thanks Vishu, the Hindu god of creation, for bringing him to Christ, and he worships Allah on a mat in his family home. By him doing these things I believe he would be a cosmic humanist because he uses three religions and they all three point him to god.
