In the article “Let Kids Run Wild Online” by Danah Boyd the author states that Technology has become the new field for the age-old battle between adults and their freedom-craving kids. As a teen myself I can relate to what the author is trying to say. I strongly disagree that parents should let their kids run wild online. As a teen I have my social media accounts and I see kids from a very young age on the social media and I don’t think that’s a good idea. I admit that I care more about checking my feed every 2 minutes more than doing other things that actually matter. In the article “Let Kids Run Wild Online” the author states that social media is a way to gossip, flirt, and socialize with others. Often the reason most teens join the social media is because they want to fit in. Some teen feel left out at a young age from 5th grade to middle school so they find the internet as a place where they can be. Little did they know that social media is the main reason why gossip starts and then that gossip will turn into hurting someone and there's no way to stop that. I have seen this happening online and I can’t believe how powerful the social media is. I think teens can start having their own social media when they turn 16 because you can learn so much before putting yourself out there. I feel like I should of not join the social media until now because I am more mature I know more about the things that I am supposed to be doing and the things that can bring consequences into my life. I still make mistakes and that’s why you should think twice before putting something into the social
