The book I decided to read was the book Ceremony by Leslie Marmon Silko. This book is based on a character who is having dreams of replays of his time served in World War II. As one dream is described with all the detail he tells the horrifying images, sounds and thoughts of the dream. He cant seem to keep the truth of the memories and the jumbled up dreams and replays in his head sorted. He explained that in order to keep calm and keep his head from replaying the memories is to think of the peaceful animal a deer and picture it for as long as possible. But it doesn’t seem to work for long. Shortly after he has his mind at peace the memories comeback quickly and vividly. As Tayo’s life goes on, he continues to do his chores around his house and keeps his life moving but he cant seem to stop the thoughts of his uncle from flowing in. Memories of his childhood begin to come back to him. One where he was just a little boy and a drought had come about the land. Tayo tells how he would help his uncle and his cousin Rocky carry buckets of water to give to the animals. It was then when he prayed for rain. Until he was almost killed from a flood where he prayed and prayed that the rain would stop. He got what he prayed for and another drought had come about the lands. Tayo continues on to tell about the time where he woke up in the hospital after the war. He remembers feeling as if he wasn’t alive. As if he was looking down upon himself. He’s sick to his stomach as to what’s his been through and the situation he is in right now. After a long span of time Tayo is finally re-healthed back well enough to be released where he then is found passed out at a train station. As he slowly wakes back up, he immediately sees a Japanese family and begins to think he is back in the Philippians but quickly finds out that that is
