Leonardo Da Vinci was born in Anchiano, Italy in the year 1452. His parents were never married. Leonardo's mother was a peasant and his father was an attorney and notary. As a child, Leonardo was given no formal education based on reading, writing, and math. Around the age of 15, Leonardo’s father apprenticed him to an artist named Andrea del Verrocchio. For ten years, he trained in mechanical arts until he mastered his artwork and he was ready to be a master of art. Leonardo moved to Milan to work for the Sforza clan as a engineer, painter, architect, designer of court festivals, and a sculptor.
