I need to stop doing projects which are not necessary and concerning myself with things I cannot control. The Seek First to Understand category asked questions about areas of my life and leadership which make me very proud. I pride myself on being sensitive to the feelings of others and trying to see things from their point of view. I believe everyone has a right to their opinions and I do not have the right to make them feel bad about their thoughts. If I feel they are thinking incorrectly, then I take the time to work with them to understand how their thought is incorrect and help them to understand. Transformational Leadership Theory
“Transformational leadership refers to a leadership style in which the leader encourages his or her subordinates to achieve higher and higher levels of performance for the sake of the organization.” (Flynn, 2015) After years of research Transformational Leadership has been broken into four categories, Idealized Influence, Inspirational Motivation, Intellectual Stimulation, and Individualized Consideration.
Leadership Strengths
After completing the Seven Habits profile I believe I have many strengths as a transformational leader. One strength I possess is my creativity and vision. “The pitfalls included overanalysis, failure to execute decisions, blaming employees for negative outcomes, perpetuating past mistakes, being overcautious and risk averse, giving disproportionate weight to the first information received, givng undue weight to a recent event, seeking information to support an existing decision and overestimateing the accuracy of forecasts.” (Van Loveren, 2007) I do my best to find solutions which will benefit everyone involved. I do know, as a leader, sometimes decisions must be made which will not benefit everyone and I have trouble making those decisions. When I must make a decision that will hurt others I find myself procrastinating and trying to find other solutions, even after the decision has been proven to be the correct
