Las Vegas has a wide variety of things to do and places to visit. However, it does not have an NFL team. If Vegas acquires an NFL team it will give Nevada residents a new and different experience. It is still far from clear when the Raiders will be coming to Las Vegas, if they ever do, but they would be the first ever National Football League team to represent Nevada. The results of the Oakland Raiders moving to Las Vegas will lead to a new stadium, may increase traffic problems and will bring forth economic change.
If Las Vegas continues to make serious strides in bringing the Raiders, they will need to build a new 65,000 seat stadium with a retractable roof to insure that the weather will not hinder the games/events. This stadium will be shared with the UNLV Rebels’ football team and may host concerts and other special events, though there are numerous arena-sized venues already located on The Strip. Having the Raiders would also lure their large following to Las Vegas. Although this would increase tourism, it would also increase traffic jams, accidents, and air pollution. On days when games or events are held, traffic will increase depending on what area of town the stadium is built, especially since the city lacks a sufficient public transportation system that would accommodate the increased visitors.
