1. The NFL has been making strides to improve their health and safety in light of the information being revealed in these new studies. The NFL has recently implemented new rule changes and have worked with equipment suppliers in attempt to make the game safer for it’s players. One of the mistakes the NFL made was denying their role in the situation so early on. A Main reason the NFL has had negative PR has been because of their unwillingness to act and take responsibility for head injuries. Now that they have assumed some responsibility in the matter, they have reached an agreement to help former players with head injuries to get the help they need, as well as reach other agreements with the NFLPA. The owners and NFL’s responsibilities have changed since the release of this information regarding player safety. Not only do they have to focus on safety for their players, but they also have to market the sport to the next generation. It is important for the NFL to focus on player safety so parents do not turn their child away from a sport that is potentially brain damaging. If they cannot prove to the younger generations that they are making changes to ensure the future health of players, they risk the NFL’s marketability down the road. 3. The changes currently being implemented in the NFL have shown progress in the field of player safety. Like most things that are new, it will take time to find out how successful these methods are, but in a few years, health protocol on NFL sidelines will be much better. Currently the efforts being made are sufficient, but progressing these methods is key to ensuring the safety of the players. 4. In 25 years, the NFL and Smoking will be similar in regards to a known risk factor. NFL players will most likely have to assume some sort of responsibility for ensuing health issues related to the sport, but that is a risk each individual aspect will have to take in to consideration when contemplating a professional career in football.
