Would you give up your love for someone just because of a problem? By loving someone they will do everything they can make them comfortable and happy for the rest of their lives. Though a lively content woman could change drastically because of their selfish desires. Mary was a faithful loving wife, calm but a killer herself. She may have preserved her routines but she becomes dishonest and her dedication to her husband had started to disappear because of her quick of change in personality and by doing a horrendous crime without thinking about it wisely. Later in the story, she develops into a person who executed homicide. To be Manipulative is to pressure the thoughts and feelings of other people. Mary Maloney did the same thing when she was told about some shocking news from her husband, she ends up killing her husband having an outrage towards him using a leg of lamb because she wants to protect herself and her child. She reacts devious with the clerk to make it sound like Patrick was killed by someone else while she was away to go to the store to buy something. Lastly, she mourns to the police to get them on her side as much as she can so they don't suspect her being a possible suspect to get away with her gruesome crime. Mary Maloney became manipulative to use people to hide her crime and create an impression of her innocence. To be clever is to be skilled and or showing intelligence and skills. Mary Maloney proved to be a cunning hitman because she is capable of using the lamb she was cooking and use it to kill her husband with is used to prepare for the police. One excerpt that demonstrates this is "Would you do me a small favor well, she said... You must be terribly hungry by now because it's long past supper time. Mary Maloney was a faithful loving wife, calm but a killer. She had an adoration for her husband and always stopped for him with curiosity but had not wasted time or thought twice to kill him. She lied that she loved her husband dearly and eternity though by doing an unspeakable crime her personality changed. Mary’s morals were that she thought that the right thing to do was to kill her husband since her husband had rejected her and was told about a problem. She thought no one loves her anymore and her whole world will be torn apart if she did not kill her husband. She was calm throughout the story and it showed that she had no regrets and she worked out a plan that she had wanted to be free of any pain or to be sent to jail. She was thinking about herself and we saw that she did not care about what happened and everything was fine that she had killed a human life because of her cruelty and selfishness. She could have talked to her husband instead and resolved it by talking to each other, thus this problem had not been
