The Wicked and Deceiving
Manipulative, ambitious, strong, ruthless, and powerful all describes the grotesque character of Lady Macbeth. She cares for no man and does what she wants, to whom she wants, with no hesitation. Lady Macbeth plays the role of the male in the relationship and takes nothing but what she expects. Lady Macbeth is the initial force that makes this entire play move forward. Her inner ruthless and cunning ways makes her reveal her absolute madness and her being the true villain that she is that would make her do the destructive things. In The Tragedy of Macbeth, Lady Macbeth is the driving force of all the chaos in Macbeth’s life. She is the backbone for all the betrayal , values power over human life, and she is not very supportive of her husband when everything is all said and done.
It’s very clear that Macbeth generally has the final say in most of the gruesome killings in the play. But, who is the conniving, wicked, and bloodthirsty female shadow who is the backbone to this mass destruction? Lady Macbeth plays the role as the bloodthirsty villain that stands alongside her husband. She mocks Macbeth when he feels uneasy about something she demanded him to do. She says “When you durst do it, then you were a man; / and to be more than what you were, you would / be so much more the man" (I.VII. 49 - 51). At this point of the play Lady Macbeth is the unstoppable force that is in charge. “Who should against his murderer shut the door, not bear the knife myself” (I.vii.54-59). This quote means that Lady Macbeth scorn’s on Macbeth about him not wanting to proceed in the murder of Duncan. She told him he had no choice but to go on with it. She controls what goes on and makes sure it is done the way she wants.

Lady Macbeth is the most interesting and complicated character in the entire play. Unlike the love-sick Juliet, Lady Macbeth, was enriched with the most unusual powers, the most dominant energy, and serious affection that could manipulate her husband Macbeth (Jameson) She is, in fact, the reason everything took a wrong turn for the worst in the play. Without the character, Lady Macbeth, this play would be absolutely nothing. She is a very strong and a determined woman who makes sure things get done when she wants it to get done. She plays no games so that she will succeed in everything she does. Lady Macbeth is a manipulating character that bribes, lies and cheats to get where she wants to be. Lady Macbeth is the backbone for all the chaos and destruction in the play, she craves for power, and she is a very disconfirming wife.
