From the episode lady Lisa of the show Faking it, the different behaviours and attitudes of people from other social classes are broken down and examined. From the way she talks, acts and even walks, Lisa Dickinson Gray, a 25-year-old from Castleford, undertakes a month of complex training to transform into what the higher social class of London would refer to as a lady. Lisa faces certain challenges when she tries to fit into a higher social class, such as behavioural and personality issues. Aspects of her life that she may have never noticed before, were criticised. Things such as the way she ate asparagus to the way she held her champagne glass, were all picked at. The experts she worked with spoke on how someone of a higher social class held themselves, by walking with head high and shoulders back, and being presentable at all times, even just after waking up. Lisa is taught to refute from using phrases such as ‘That’s nice’, being told that she cannot be warm, and instead be bland. This is found to be a challenge for someone like Lisa, as she comes from a welcoming and warm background, spending nights with her family eating pizza, instead of wearing makeup from as soon as she wakes up and eating dinners that cost over 200 pounds. If two people from different social classes applied for the same job, and ones resume had features such as attending various elite primary schools and private high schools, that person may have a higher chance of getting the job compared to someone without these, solely based on where they stand in society’s
