Brought to an End? Through the years of bitter division, violence and threat of another outbreak of armed conflict, the legacy that the Korean War never ended have left an indelible mark on the Korean peninsula. However, in early 2018, the world waited as the threat of nuclear war lingered once again. However, the Olympics in Seoul seemed to have united both the North and South in hosting the international games, that they both participated in events under the flag of the Korean peninsula itself. Having the two sides for once not shut each other out and to discuss plans would be a preeminent display of the truth and reconciliation needed to end the division. The unified symbol of acknowledgment that they are the same people who have been fighting for almost seventy years would show the end. The finding reconciliation in reaching a middle ground in such the Olympic games succeeded in doing in my eyes would signal to be the end of the Korean War. This is because reconciliation, acknowledgment of the truth and acceptance that it would demonstrate with such act. As we studied this semester Cranes and The Guest incorporated these themes to signal hope for the future of Korea.

How when Tockchaie married Shorty they reconciled on a connection from the past instead of viewing each other by ideology.“He could not help break out laughing at the thought of his wife sitting there with her huge stomach” humanizes the situation “that this was no time for joking” about the imminent execution.
