John the I of England was king of england between the 6th of April 1199 until his death in 1216. King John was born in Beaumont palace Oxford England. King John was also known by his counterparts as “Lackard”. King John has achieved some remarkable things in British history. He is one of the most well know monarchs in history. King John was the youngest son of King Henry II of England, and appeared that John was the most favourite son of Henry, as he tried to find him large lands to live on in scotland and Ireland. In 1199 Richard died and John became his successor. John first marriage was with Isabella countess of Gloucester in 1189 and lasted till his accession in 1199. Arthur John’s nephew was the most famous of his victims. The king was acquitted the evilest king in British history as in 1202 he took his nephew Arthur and thousands of other people such as knights and lords to jail. John cept Arthur alive in prison for some time as he was heir to the throne in 1190 after his father Geoffrey. John later drowned him in a river. During his reign he achieved many victories in France, but shortages of military resources ended his victories in France and Germany. In 1205 John became involved in a dispute with Pope Innocent III which lasted 1 decade. Innocent maintained that kings had to submit to popes. King John has done some good things including the signing of the Magna Carta in Runnymede in 1215, which was the first document establishing law in England. The Barons of that time forced him to sign it as they rebelled. The magna carta is widely known as the greatest and most important legal document in medieval history, and grants individual rights of peoples in England.
