What is the greatest moment in the history of baseball? Baseball is a very historic sport, it goes all the way back to 1839, where a man named Abner Doubleday thought of this idea. He didn’t know that this game would evolve so much that it would later turn into America’s Pastime. Baseball is regarded as the most beautiful sport to many. The purpose of this essay is to summarize some of the key events in baseball history, along with the most prolific players from various franchises.

A more modern day winning team would be the 1998 Seattle Mariners who went 116-46. Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire are two of the most fearsome hitters of all time, but the use of steroids made their careers go down the drain, neither are in the Hall of Fame. Sammy Sosa was another powerful hitter whose career was damaged by steroids. Many rule changes have took place in the MLB over time. Most of the changes have been to speed up the game. Recently, they abolished the four pitch intentional walk rule to speed up the game. In 2012, the MLB added a rule that sends two more teams from each division to a wild card playoff, the teams that go to the wild card are the next two teams with the best record in their respective leagues that did not win their division.

Most of the great players in the league are polished veterans, but other young players are making their mark, such as Mike Trout, Corey Seager, Carlos Correa, and Kris Bryant.
