Kesha Rose Sebert, professionally known as Ke$ha, has lived a long, rough life. In 2005, she signed a contract with producer Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, and ever since this, she has been living inside a personal hell. Kesha has been searching for help for years, but no one believed her when she first explained how Dr. Luke made sexual advances towards her. After fighting this legal battle for years, she released her song “Praying” in 2017, but the song first became popular after her emotional performance at the 60th Grammy Awards where she was joined by many other performers, including Cyndi Lauper. The song told a heart-wrenching story of sadness, hurt, and despair. However, this song also tells the story of a beautiful woman who, with time, learned that her self-worth was much more than others made it out to be. She goes as far as to thank her abuser for making her the woman she is today when she says, “I can thank you for how strong I have become” (Ke$ha 4). Kesha also sings about how she has pulled through and become more independent and stronger on her own: “’Cause I can make it on my own, oh. And I don’t need you, I’ve found a strength I’ve never known” (17-18). She shows that she can talk about her fight and her hardships without breaking down and falling back into her horrible memories. The most important characteristic that Kesha obtains would have to be her forgiveness. She tells the man that she can forgive him, but she will never forget what he has done to her. “But some things, only God can forgive”, she sings in her song. She is telling Dr. Luke that God holds the real, honest opinion, and he should fear Him. However, Kesha shows nosigns of holding a grudge against Dr. Luke. She wants him to pray to God and learn from his mistakes. She even claims that she prays for Dr. Luke at night: “I hope you're somewhere prayin',
