Katie Couric was born on January 7, 1957, in Arlington, Virginia. She is the youngest of four children and her father, John, is a retired journalist and public relations executive. Couric graduated from the University of Virginia in 1979 with a degree in American Studies. She then moved to Washington D.C.to pursue her dream of becoming a television new reporter. Her first job was a desk assistant at ABC. Shortly after she began working there, she moved on to work at Cable News Network (CNN). Couric would work there for seven years. She worked around the country as a producer and an on-air reporter whenever she could. In 1987, she went back to Washington and got a job at NBC. In 1988, Couric was hired as the No.2 reporter at the Pentagon
