Leadership has many definitions. Some defined it as a way a leader influences other. Others stated that leadership is the study of what makes a leader effective (Dalglish & Miller 2010, p.4). For instance; Smith and Bell (2014) defined leadership as a process of attempting to influence the behaviours of others. Many theories have been developed to identify and to describe what make some leaders effective and others not. According to Dalglish and Miller (2010), some people become leaders through political process or through a career progression to lead the organisation or from within the community with a mission to make that society better. Leadership is a way to persuade people to work towards a required or common goal. Leaders can change how their followers views themselves and they also have influence over their sense of belonging to the team.
The aim of the report is to discuss a theory concept by studying one of the Australians current leaders. Throughout this paper, an inspirational leader (Julian Burnside) will be an example of how some effective leaders became successful in their fields.
