I have rode the article Against School by John Taylor Gatto, even it was long pages to read, it was interesting and at the same time controversial and but I disagree with the author. Why? He is encouraging the young people of today that education is not worth it, is just a waste of time. Is reasonable what is he quoting with his facts “six classes a day, five days a week, nine months a year for twelve years is a boring routine that every person must take” It seems depressing to be in school for so long just to turn ourselves to slaves, receive orders like a peasant and work for somebody with high economic status is not what we want. Of course, in my opinion those people didn’t even need to read a book or been a boredom class with annoying teachers, those examples of people are Michael Jackson (Pop Star) Bill Gates (owner of Microsoft), Roman Abramovich (Chelsea Football Club owner). I can tell United States is one of the countries who provide more opportunities based on education. Most of the industrialized nations typically employ either a technical track or a university track. Students start funneled in specific track as early as middle school. In the order hand, in the United States students decide for themselves whether they want to go to College or go to a technical school. Also in most cases, students chose not to pursue any postsecondary education at all.
As a College student, I had heard many stories of peers about that reasons why they are in school. The most common is because their parents told them they have to go to College or because they were simply obligated to do so. In my own opinion I support in few of John Taylor Gatto ideas that these alternatives more than those people who decide better to move out of house because they don’t agree on go to College. We started with basic concepts about Internet connection; we also talk about how all this new technology expands through the world. And I say ‘surprisingly’ because I’m one of those people who don’t really care about technology or computer system. Actually I feel lost when people talk about software and programs. After a couple weeks we started working on the computer lab, where I learn how to create a Web site. I was amazing of how computer system works.
