In the book “The Pearl” by John Steinbeck the essential questions that works with the story is What is worth the effort, When is a risk worth taking, How can we fight injustice, and What impact will you have on the world. The essential question what is worth the effort because Kino risks his life for the pearl, when he has better things in life to look for. Kino would have been better off just selling the pearl because if he did he could get married in a church, raise his son and send him off to school.
