Jack the Ripper

"I am down on whores and shant quit ripping them until I do get buckled,” (Pulditor 48). That statement was sent from Jack the Ripper himself to Scotland Yard, a detective in the case. Jack the Ripper was a horrendous serial killer that preyed on prostitutes in the late 1880s (Pulditor 45-47). Mary Ann “Polly” Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Kate Eddowes, and Mary Kelly are five of the prostitutes’ murdered by Jack the Ripper (Anderson 10-51). Although the true identity of Jack the Ripper has never been identified, experts have investigated Prince Albert Victor, Thomas Neill Cream, and Montague John Druitt as prime suspects.

Prince Albert Victor was anticipated as a suspect primarily because of his health problems. Rumors considered Prince Albert Victor to be “mildly retarded.” He was partially deaf, also (Schachner). While traveling, the prince became sick with Syphilis, a sexually transmitted disease. Syphilis drove him mad. Dr. William Gull recognized the prince roaming around the streets of Whitechapel with blood on his hands. (Anderson 80-81).

During the investigations, the Royal Conspiracy developed. The Royal Conspiracy goes as follows; Prince Eddy fell in love with Annie Crook. They eloped and had a daughter. When Queen Victoria found out about her grandsons marriage, she was determined to put an end to their relationship. Mary Kelly, who was their daughters nurse, Mary Ann “Polly” Nichols, Annie Chapman, and Elizabeth Stride knew about Annie Crook and Prince Eddy’s secret relationship. Dr. Gull was accused of killing those four women as a result of their knowledge. However, facts show that this was only a theory. Investigators of the case believe that Druitt could have been Jack the Ripper, because around the same timeframe he committed suicide; the murders stopped (Jones). John Douglas noted that serial killers do not suddenly cease their urge to kill (Anderson 69). That would logically explain why there were no more murders were committed.

Although the true identity of Jack the Ripper has never been identified, experts have investigated Prince Albert Victor, Thomas Neill Cream, and Montague John Druitt as prime suspects. Based on facts and information given, the researcher found evidence that Jack the Ripper was Montague John Druitt. Druitt’s family, appearance, and suicide support the researcher’s claim. Ultimately, the obsession with the Jack the Ripper case will never perish.
