Losing The Battle September 11th, 2001, marked the beginning of a long war against terrorism. Nineteen militants from the group Al-Qaeda hijacked four planes to crash into three different locations: The World Trade Center in New York, The Pentagon in Washington, and it was believed that the fourth plane was headed toward the Capitol building or the White House in Washington D.C. On May 2nd, 2011, Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden was assassinated, since then there haven’t been anymore attacks lead by Al-Qaeda. But there are still other groups of terrorists to worry about. Isis is arguably the most successful and feared group of militants. It has claimed itself a state and has been governing for many years. Isis began in 2004 and was an ally of Osama Bin Laden. The only difference is that Isis is more brutal and more effective when controlling territory. Isis is growing and so are the fears of the United States citizens. Isis has been pushed back farther into its own territory, losing 12% of its territory. But that does not mean that it is any less dangerous. There are five branches in the United States military, with those branches they are able to protect and defend the Country we call home against any threat that is put against this country. The United states have also eliminated many top militant leaders. Many believe that the many terrorist attacks may be showing weakness, rather than growing in strength and that if the U.S defeated Al-Qaeda, they can defeat Isis. Terror in the world will never be completely eliminated, but rather will go from a major threat to just a small nuisance. But those are not the only things we should worry about. There are many more threats that are right here in the United States
