Is racism a problem of the past?
“I have a dream …” (Luther King,1963) that someday people will only be judged by what they have on the inside and not by how the look on the outside This is what I think about the theme of this essay, racism. Despite widespread efforts to clean the society from racism since the 20th century, it stills persist now, beneath a thin layer of fear and inequality. Racism is defined as: Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. Contrary to what people think, racism is not only directed toward a specific race, but also culture, ethnicity, and/or economic power. Just because a particular person has a different belief or different color of skin you should not treat them differently from others. This essay supports the view that racism is a problem from the past and its impact is still perpetuated today.

It could be considered as a disease which affect our society from its roots. Between the main effects that racism have on our society, you could find: it makes you adopt certain beliefs or morals, it violates freedom and a free world ideals, and it could eventually convert into violence. First, racism makes you adopt some beliefs like “When Mexico sends its people… They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists” (Trump, 2016) which basically insinuates that Mexicans are bad people which only carries problems. Secondly, racism violates freedom because you are not giving people the same chances as a white person. Finally, racism could be a key factor in a lot of violentos acts. For example only in Great Britain there are more than 130 racist incidents per day.
