Have you ever wondered what were to happen if you got sick and were not able to go to the doctors and get help? If you needed to go to the hospital in the middle of the night you would be able to because nurses work round-the-clock. But have you ever considered what it is like for them to have to be working in the middle of the night when everyone else works during the day? With that being said, if there were no nurses to work night shift then no one would be there to take care of patients in the night. Many people choose to go into the nursing field because you do not just get a reward in profits, but also knowing that you are helping people feel better each day is a good feeling to have inside. A study was done on nurses with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing that found 28.57% of nurses feel satisfied everyday with their nursing career and 49.14% often feel satisfied with their career choice. A nurse who is friendly and helpful and wants to get patients back to their normal lives are going to be much more personable and be more encouraging to the patients and help them feel like themselves again. Today nurses have the option to choose from one hundred and four different specific areas to specialize their degree in. A study was done on a group of nurses from each specialty area showing that medical/surgical nursing is one of the most popular areas to work as a nurse with 47.61% of nurses have being a medical/surgical nurse. Depending on how long each nurse has worked in the hospital and how much schooling they have allows more flexibility in their job and they do not only stay at one type of nurse but are able to rotate to different types of nurses and see what they are like. A survey was done on the four different types of nursing licenses and found that 78.94% of nurses have a RN licenses which is the most common and 5.53% of nurses have a APRN licenses which is advance practice registered nurse. Registered nurse is the most common nursing licenses out of the four different types because most hospitals are beginning to require at least four years of college for nursing now and with becoming a registered nurse it allows easier advancement in the hospital over someone who is a licensed practical/ vocational nurse.
