“On a team, it’s not the strength of the individual players, but it is the strength of the unit and how they all function together.” As stated by Bill Belichick, Head Coach of the –time Super Bowl Winning New England Patriots (2000-Present), the 1999 New York Jets, and the 1991-1995 Cleveland Browns. Football has been one of the big three sports since it was created in 1869 from a mixture of soccer and rugby. The basis of the sport is for a group of eleven individuals to work together to get a football to the other side of a one-hundred-yard field. Instead of what it has become on today’s society which is a financial entity that pays billions and crushes dreams if they don’t get to sign the big contract that the person had thought was guaranteed to him since he thought he had the talent to play. This allows us to see that football as if it was college, high school, or the working world. This means that the sport was partially, in origin, about making connections with other people to not only boost yourself but to also boost others around you and develop you into the “leaders of tomorrow” as said by the older generation. "How do you WIN? By getting average players to play good and good players to play great. That's how you WIN."As stated by coach Bum Phillips, coach of the 1975-1980 Houston Oilers, and the 1981-1985 New Orleans Saints on making winning teams. How is this related to brotherhood some may ask? It is related because this is the end result that is created once they are formed into s brother hood who understands their role on the team and what they need to do to make the team and their teammates
