Being apart of team helps develop a good character, morals, and confidence. Team sports are something not everyone will choose to participate in. When you are part of a team you feel connected with every teammate, not because you have to but because you begin to create a bond with those teammates. It’s like you gain a whole new family. Being apart of a team makes you feel needed; you get this confidence that you have never really had before. Being a teammate teaches you responsibility, loyalty, and honesty. It helps develop good character; it helps mold you into a positive influence not only on your other teammates, but to everyone around you. When you become part of a team you begin to feel accepted. It’s like you have this whole new comfort zone with so many new and old peers. At times you will argue, but at the end of the day you know you have those few people to fall back on, and with no doubt, you know they will be there to catch you. She led the team to a Conference championship and a State Championship. As a Senior she was the #1 player in the nation, averaged a triple double with 31 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. For the second consecutive year in history, she led the team to a state championship and led the nation in scoring. All four years in high school she was selected to be on the all-state team, all-region team, and all-conference team. During the summers of her High School years she would continue practicing and playing for an AAU team.

As captain of my high school’s soccer team, I encourage my team to do their best in every game, I discipline them, and I show them respect and teamwork. These are very important elements to the team because without discipline there's no team and if there is no discipline there's no respect. I learn a lot from my teammates also and their always there for me when I’m in trouble or I need something. A team is a group of people that share a special bond with each other. At first, We might have some difficulties along the road but in the end we are a family.
When you play a team sports, you need leadership, team work, a positive attitude, a competitive spirt and time management skills. Team work comes in handy when you and your team are trying to pull out a win in a tough situation. Being part of a team takes flexibility and the ability to lead and follow. The benefits of sports range from physical, mental, and social. Exercise keeps people fit, develops healthy muscle tone, and reduces heart and lung problems (Oak, Manali). Sports studies have shown that “youth are motivated and engaged in ways that do not happen regularly in any other parts of their lives. Their experience of sports stands out from nearly all other activities, including socializing and schoolwork, in providing enjoyment where they are exerting concerted effort toward a goal” (Larson, Reed, and Sean Seepersad). People who play sports bond over a common interest. This opens up children to meeting new kids and socializing with many more. In Kindergarten, I played baseball. Even though I did not truly understand all the mechanics of the game, I met new friends and began to develop motor skills. This was very useful starting at an early age and pushed me to stay active throughout my life.

Sports provide children with experiences and interactions necessary to grow into an adult with good character and sufficient social skills. Team sports in grade school can offer children and teenager an outlet for stress and negative emotional build-up. Coaches, practices, games or meets and traveling all have a large impact on a person’s charter. Most children who have played a team sport at some time have character traits found in highly successful adults.
