From the minute that you meet the interviewee, an opinion is made of the overall mood for the interview. Therefore, it is important to start the interviewing process off on a positive note. The interview is the first interaction with a company. As the interviewer, you are acting as the “face” of the company – displaying a positive impression of the company allowing for positive reviews and feedback on the company. She mentioned that active listening is a tool that is used to set a positive interviewing experience. The interviewer should not dominate the conversation, overall the applicate should speak at least 75% of the time to allow a smooth flow throughout the interview. Veronica mentioned that it is good practice to acknowledge the interviewees responses and or answers to your questions as the interviewer to maintain rapport. As the interviewer, it is important to avoid indicating that you agree and or disagree with the interviewee. Whether it being building rapport, taking notes, demonstrating active listening or even establishing and executing questions we specific responses from the interviewee; the interview is held to the highest standard for a company. They are the individual that brings in the new faces, set the tone for the work environment and know what a company expects and desires in a potential employee.
