Thesis: messages that are sending and receive are one of many types of interpersonal communication. You can also use indirect and direct methods of communication.
Main Points: the different types of communication, I will be discussion in this paper.
Interpersonal communication is an exchange of information between two or more people. During interpersonal communication, there are messages sending and receiving. There are two ways to use interpersonal communication, which is indirect and direct method. To have successful interpersonal communication skills is when the senders and receivers of the messages have a good understanding of the messages. There are four principles of interpersonal communication, which are: Inescapable, Irreversible,
Psychological context, relational context, situational context, environmental context and cultural context. With psychological context, you ask who you are and what you bring to this interaction. Like needs, desire, and values. Relational context is your concerns by others reactions. Situational context deals with the “were” you communicate at. In other words, your interaction in a classroom would be different from your interaction in another social sitting. Environmental context also deal with the “where”, you communicate like, time of day, noise level and location, cultural context deals with all the learning behaviors and rules that can affect the interaction. In other words, if a person is from a different culture that makes long and direct eye contact, would you out of politeness avoid eye contact?
You probably would avoid the awkwardness that is present. So how can we use interpersonal communication in the workplace? Interpersonal communication is like any other physical skill, it must be trained like no other. When a fire department hires new fire fighters, you can’t assume that they know how to drive a big red fire truck or how to save a person from a burning building, you train them. When it comes to a position in a job, you must communicate with employees what you need them to do or what the job is about. Sometimes, no noise or just gesture can mean some type of interpersonal communication without saying anything at all. Conversations between two co-workers about the lack of training the company has would be a great example of interpersonal communication.
Interpersonal communication is used in everyday life. We need this skill to communicate with one another in the world. If we did not have this skill to use, how would people interact with each other? There would be no communication of any kind. Interpersonal communication comes in many forms of skills like non-verbal, verbal, listening skills, negotiation and problem-solving.
