Last semester, I took the Introduction to Interior Design class and I’ve learned that attending a four years school program of Interior Design doesn’t mean that I’m qualified for my dream job, unless I take the examination called “National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ)”. I didn’t expect it would be that easy either, so the fact that I have to take the test doesn’t surprise me. I wanted to find out what does NCIDQ test is like, so I searched “NCIDQ test” on Google to see what can I do to get myself prepared, or at least what to expect. This time, I wanted to know if it’s true that some designers could make themselves up without having a proper education or obtaining the authorized certificate, so I searched “Famous Interior Designer without licensure”. I look through a bunch of articles that weren’t related. Some wasn’t even an article, it was just some sort of blogs where anonymous people could just put their thoughts in. I scrolled down to look for a more reliable source until I saw the article “ Interior Designers who got arrested ”. I wasn’t expected for this type of article. This article might not have anything to do with what I am looking for, but I still wanted to see what it was about, maybe there is an Interior Designer that I might be familiar with. I scanned through the article and finally I did saw my all time favorite Interior Designer, “Kelly Wearstler”. I’m so inspired by her work and I’ve been following her on instagram for a very long time. Again, everything seem so unexpected after I decided to do research over this topic. I thought I knew everything about the Interior Design, not everything but at least something. I was wrong, I didn’t know anything inside this world. Turn out my favorite Interior Designer Kelly Wearstler isn’t an Interior Designer but instead she is an Interior Decorator. I’m actually impressed with the article “What does an Interior Designer do?”. It stated that Interior Designer not only work to create an attractive spaces but also to be functional and safe. Moreover, it also included the new emerging jobs for designers such as, green design and ergonomic design. I guess, this is why I’ve been receiving so many green design projects from my instructors in school lately. According to what I know, green designs are designing for a friendly environment, especially dealing sustainability and recycling materials. I guessed my currently projects are preparing me or start having an ideas for this new job opportunity as well. I am pretty sure I’ve seen the word ergonomic somewhere inside my book, but I couldn't remember at the top of my head what exactly is Ergonomic Design. I just assumed that it would be something that involves designing spaces with budgeting. As I continue to read, ergonomic design was far from what I was just assumed, based on this article ergonomic design actually mean designing spaces for working area to create a good environment inside the offices.
