Life story interview/ project was design for you to get to know a random stranger or a close friends. You would asked general questions about the person life, school, work and family, therefore many will open up to you but a lot of people would not. Before you did the interview you had taken a NIH certification make sure you understand how to do the interview. You had recorded it, transmitted it, coded it and then present it to the class. Once everything was done you learned something new about this person or you may look at their cultural a different way. I’m very shy person and I don’t like talk to people I don’t know or asking people serious of questions because it make me feel uncomfortable. The person I interview, she worked at my job but I never really talk to her until one day in the break room. I decided to do my interview on her, she very shy person like me so a lot of questions she took a long pauses before answering the questions. I can say after doing this interview it made me be more talkative towards people and I understood why she was shy, quiet and stayed to herself. I really enjoy doing this interview and I would like to do another interview but with an older crowd. However when you get ready to do this assignment again see can we have any age limit, the reason I say that because it was this young lady I had in mind to do but she was under the age. The transcription part drove me insane, I didn’t like this part at all. The reason I hated the transcription part so much because I kept forgetting to type something and I had play the recording all over again. When doing transcription it took forever and I really thought I was never going to finish, my hand went to hurting from typing so much. I just wish this part was out of the
Before the activity started I made some question that were related with the culture of the person and that would lead me to know many things about the culture of the person. Before, the interview started I felt so happy that my friend from Nigeria accepted to have an interview with me even though he looked like if he was doing homework. At first, I had a hard time trying to find an older person to interview, because I did not want to interview my family since I’ve lived with them my whole life. While I was getting ready to interview my friend’s parent, I started reading the questions to myself, and I realized that I do not know the answer to them if I ask my parents. I chose to interview my mother because I have never sat down with her and have a serious deep conversation with her. I realized that I am closer to her than my father, but I’m not as close as I thought I was with her, and it broke my heart when I finally realized that. At the age she is, I finally realized that I have been taking advantage of her and I refused to live this way with her. This interview was emotional for both of us, and it also brought us closer to each other. I am so grateful and happy I did this interview with her.
This reflection paper is based on the life history interview conducted on me and a 78-year-old woman who is soon going to celebrate her 79th birthday on Sep 21st. I would call her with a fictitious name “Smita” in the entire paper to maintain and protect her privacy. The interview was about our life. It was divided into six major life categories: childhood, adulthood, identity, the present, aging, and life lessons. Having an opportunity to interview a 78-year-old woman and writing this reflective paper about the life history and experiences had made me realize that I have a lot to learn about the stages of human life. Every individual lives are different and it varies tremendously. As an interviewee my goal was to collect the details of life, different stories, and experiences that makes our life unique from the rest of the people.
An interview is a meeting and a conversation that happens between a potential candidate for a job position in a company and an interviewer, for the main purpose of the interviewer collecting information about the interviewee - such as their job experiences, qualities, and skills - to determine the eligibility of the interviewee’s capability to take that position in that company.
At the time of interview give a brief introduction of yourself as well as company, give time for answering questions and after interview summarize the things.
A major life event that started me to pursue an education in nursing was my time in basic training. The most life changing event during my induction into the army at ft. Jackson before starting basic training was accepting Christ as my personal lord and savior. When I decided to go into the Army 4 years out of high school I was a student firefighter E.M.T. working towards my paramedic, incidents at the Dept. I worked at both before and after some traumatic emergency responses actually turned me away from practicing any sort of medicine and causing me to seek the military for a new career or to pay for me to go back to school for another career if the military wasn’t my thing. During Basic training as stated above I was already a licensed E.M.T.
...th the patient I kept thinking that if this were my mother how would I want the nurse to treat her. I tried to behave in the way I would expect a nurse to treat me. I had preconceived notions before meeting the patient and they were all laid to rest almost immediately, honestly I was nervous. But once I started it began to feel comfortable and the interview just flowed naturally.
Although I am only sixteen years old and in the eleventh grade of high school, many things have influenced me and caused me to be the person that I am today. I hope that these things will continue to help me be a better person and influence me as my life continues. Some of the things that have influenced me have been church, my family, my friends, and school.
Moving from a highly diverse community to a less diverse community has to be the weirdest yet interesting culture shock I ever had to deal with. As a young child, I did not know about the outside world. I thought everyone rides the bus or the metro, graffiti on the wall is normal and traffic wouldn’t matter as much since everything I needed was within walking distance sometimes. There were shocking things I learned once I moved to Nebraska.
Throughout life we tend to run into numerous challenges along with changes, my challenges were keeping a decent grade as well as being active with a sport I loved. Also overcoming the fear of a certain hurdle and worrying about not make it to the finals. Although I’ve faced and overcome that particular fear, as the years passed, currently still face some challenges. I did not become the person I am today overnight, there were some challenges I’ve faced and changes I’ve made to become who I am today.
After countless hours of uncomfortable naps and tasteless meals between flights, we finally arrived at the unfamiliar land of America. Leaving all our dear friends and families behind, I was told that we came here in hope of a better future, my future specifically. I was never really socially active and at the time, English was a whole new concept that I have yet to understand. The inability to communicate with other makes it even harder for me to express myself and it mold my personality to become more antisocial than I ever was. There’s always this uneasy feeling that linger when someone talk to me and I cannot give them a response and it’s even harder to say something because I was afraid of making a mistake and make a fool out of myself.
February 11th, 1996, in the small town of Spencer, West Virginia, a baby girl was brought into this world; Little did she know how cruel and vindictive this world truly is. Twenty-years later, here I am still trying to understand my place. I was born into a rather large family (counting aunts, uncles, cousins, & just about everyone). Throughout my childhood, all the way up to my junior year of high school, my family moved just about every year. Over the next few years I really got into history and government, only then did I look back at all of the life changing events in my lifetime and truly understand what happened.
I have a very fulfilling feeling about what I have been able to accomplish in my life so far. I want the absolute best for myself and those close to me. I often go above and beyond to help those around me succeed and be the best version of themselves that they can possibly be.
My life has been the result of many situations that have shaped it; however, it was not until recently when I realized just how well I have it. It took one impactful life experience in order for me to recognize that my life, compared to how others must live their lives, has many more opportunities. Once I realized my great circumstance, it was like a switch went off in my head. I had to take action and make the most of my life by looking at life in a different way.
