I. Introduction
A. Attention-getter: Do you have any pets? According to ASPCA about 37-47% of houses in the US have dogs, and 30-37% of houses have cats (Pet Statistics).
B. Relevance: I have had an amazing opportunity to raise 4 rabbits from when they were 3 months old until they were full grown adults.
C. Purpose: I have realized over the past two years that they aren’t just pets.
D. Preview: Rabbits aren’t just pets they are family, you learn to love them. It gives you responsibility, and it helps you learn patience.

II. Body

I started off my sophomore year with two female californian rabbits both less than seven months old. By my junior year I had four californians. Sadly about a month ago one of my rabbits died. She developed an infestation of maggots that came from using hay that we used for the past two years. At first I was just so excited to have them. I wanted to do so many things with them: breed them, I was going to sell them, and have my own business. I would later have to move them into a bigger facility because there would be to many of them. Responsibility skills that I have learned are organization. I'm more organized with school and work. Time management was hard to manage because I was always working. Managing my time is still something I struggle with today. Having to remember everything that needs to be done on a day to day bases is something everyone in highschool deals with. Remembering to feed, water, and take care of an animal can help you remember the little things. Something as simple as taking out the garbage or doing your homework.
