In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting the book “All Quiet On the Western Front,” to two poems called “To His Love,” and “In Flanders Fields” There will be some differences and similarities between the book and the two poems.To His Love In the first poem I have read “To His Love,” a girl just lost the man she loved. As she sees him just lying in the coffin, all these memories come back into her head. Who else is she suppose to walk in the fields with? Or who else is suppose to be there to grow old with? This is somewhat similar to the book “All quiet on the Western Front,” because it’s like when a mom loses her son and he goes off to war to fight, who else is suppose to be there to help her when the husband/father is off at work …show more content…

They realize they will never have their presence ever again in their life.Differences between the poem and the book is that none of the soldiers actually have a girlfriend at home to go home too except only one of them does. So no one will go through the pain of losing the love of their life but that one girl she will be the only one to experience it if she loses her husband to the war. She will know what it will be like to go about her day everyday without her husbandIn Flanders Fields The other novel called “In Flanders Fields,” it’s about a how poppies grow where the soldiers have fallen. To me I think it represents their life and it gives some kind of peace knowing where they have died and that flowers will be there to represent them at all times. Some similarities between the book and this poem is that one day they are alive fighting this terrible war and then the next day you could be gone and in a very bad accident that could change your life forever not only your life but the people who love you and will be there in your life.
