A workable time plan must take into account personal needs, interests and vagaries. According to Whapham first step in planning is to consider the organisation and the people in it. People are more important than things and the routine must fit in with the members of the organisation and not vice versa. Time plan is a technical aid in the wise management of resources. The time schedule helps a lot in using resources in a better manner. A time schedule must have a definite plan. Usually it consists of certain definite steps.

If other persons are also working for the plan there is a need of coordination. A workable time and activity plan must be built, step by step, to fit the needs of a particular organization. Conditions in no two organizations are the same. As such, time for interruptions and unexpected demands must be planned in advance. These demands are a part of the day’s activities. Although the details of time and activity plans will differ for each employee, the steps in making the plans are much the same. Carefully considered time plans can increase satisfaction and reduce indecision or worry in the application of time and other resources to reach goals. A general goal of time management is the conservation of time to match needs and wants. Time plans should therefore, reflect personal and organizational goals. Based on these goals, people decide on activities to be included in the day, week, month or year for which they are planning. In the game of time management one can have two basic advantages. Firstly, the available time is 24 hours a day. Secondly, the rules can be made, that is, one can make use of his / her controlling power in deciding how the time should be used.
