Most people back then believed that being an indentured servant wasn’t worth it because freedom was important. Many also argue that coming to the colonies is an amazing opportunity no matter how you get there. Although, I do believe that both sides make a good point I think that if you have the chance to come to the colonies that you should take it, even if it means that you have to be an indentured servant. Ultimately, I will explain to you why I believe that you should go to the colonies instead of staying in England where who knows what could happen to you.
To begin with, one of the reasons why I strongly believe that you should go to the colonies as an indentured servant is because it’s a free passage to the American colonies. Why wouldn’t you want to go the Americas where you could learn and see new things. Everything was paid for you so it would be the perfect opportunity to start all over and have a new life. After your seven years were up you could find a job and create a family, all things that you probably wouldn’t be able to do if you stayed in England. Many peasants in England were treated horribly and had a life that you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy. Being a slave for seven years would definitely be better than that. Also, if you think about it after the seven years are up it’ll be worth it because you’ll be free and will have many options of what you want to do with your life. Even though it’s a long and difficult price the reward will be satisfying and you’ll be happy you went to the colonies.
