In the early 1900’s women were not prominent members of society. A woman's role in society would most likely be one of a wife or a mom. The ones who were accomplishing more things were jobs of nurses or teachers. Women didn't have such an impacting role in society and they were always expected to be poised and reserved. Since she died in 1962, Marilyn Monroe has managed to keep her fame as a, a sex symbol, an icon of her era, a money-maker and one of the most recognizable faces in the world. This was all due to the fact that she died at her peak she died at age 36 when her fame was at an all-time high, so she never faded out and never aged. Today she would be 90 years old. But remains forever a young Woman who impacted to much change on our world. Monroe’s efforts affected women and society in a socially, economically, and politically manner. She did so by showing off her sexuality. Once in a movie, she was seen sporting lingerie, this was the first time most women had seen such lingerie, which sparked a whole new market for women in lingerie. Which resulted in tons of money due to Marlyn's open sexuality. Additionally, in a result of her death, many movies and TV shows were created about her. People make lots of money promoting her and her image and talent even today. Like in the shows “NBC’s Smash“ and “A Week With Marilyn“. As well, lots of retailers sell Marilyn Monroe inspired merchandise such as art, clothing, bedding etc. Because she is an iconic woman and has not lost her fame or her iconic title even though she died 55 years ago she is still relevant today because of all she has accomplished. So we see Monroe had an economic effect because, she introduced lingerie, after her death, she has had many a TV made about her, and an abundance of stores sell Marilyn Monroe
