In 240 years of America, we have gone from a free and proud nation, set up by our forefathers to ensure liberty and freedom from oppressive and corrupt government; to an ignorant and divided state, filled with fears of terror and economic downfall. Our country is filled with hatred, confusion, doubt, and corruption. Although I am still in highschool, I’ve been observant of all these things for many years. Likewise, I am well aware how sickening these realizations would be to George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, or even John F. Kennedy–if they were here today. To help get America back to its optimistic and winning self, we must focus first on important issues regarding social, domestic, and immigration reform. Abortions kill innocent people, ending their lives literally before they begin, these fetuses--which democrats attest are not humans--are our country’s future. They could be future Martin Luther King's, Ronald Reagan's, or Steve Job’s; the future innovators and leaders of our world are cast away without a chance. We must give these fetuses constitutional rights, to protect them, because born or not, they have unalienable rights. Next, medical marijuana must become legal in all 50 states, properties in marijuana are extracted as a highly useful medicine, which can slow cancerous cells and stop epileptic seizures. Hereafter, we must treat all equal in terms of the law. It is well known how unequal the effects of drug possession are. First and foremost, we should not make it harder for law-abiding citizens to get guns. Having a longer waiting period to receive the gun will not stop anyone from committing a crime with it. We need a screening process in which those with mental illness and/or criminal record will not buy any gun. Putting more restrictions and lengthening the process will only drive away good people, and influence them to buy guns more quickly and easily from drug dealers and other illegal
