Recommended: Overview of the roaring 20s

Question 1: The reason the 1920s were a unique time period because there was significant amount of changes. The Roaring twenties was a time where there was technology was getting more advanced and there was an economic growth. Also women were more open, they smoked in public, danced, and listen to jazz. It challenges the way others look at women, the stereotypes and expectation for them were ignored. There were making more money and they were able to get job like teachers, and nurses. Lastly Harlem Renaissance was a time where African Americans moved to Harlem and they made a community where they can display their talents. It helped changed how people view African Americans and it gave them their own identify.
Question 2: Nativism is a policy that favors and protect natives instead of immigrants. This policy was shown in the trials of Sacco And Vanzetti where they were convicted because of their background. Both men were Italian and during that time there was hatred toward immigrants because of the red scare. The rebirth of the Ku Klux Klan happened because they claimed that wanted to protect Americans from Immigrants. Americans were angry because of all the immigrants coming to America, and there were getting jobs and properties that could be for other Americans. Some of the major objective was to provide relief for all the unemployed. Another was to make more jobs, and to build more homes. The goal were accomplished but it still did not put a stop to the Great Depression, after the World War 2 the great depression started to fade out. The New Deal was a great starting point, but it did not single handily accomplish all the goals. Thankfully, the Irish spoke English and the German Catholics reputation was improved because of their Protestant countrymen’s good reputation. However, their children often lacked any skill or education, but they were able to blend in quite well with the American society. More and more immigrants would migrate to the United States without any skill or education and on top of that they were usually poor. These immigrants were called “new” immigrants and they came from all over the world including Italy, Greece, Poland, Hungary, and Russia.
